Majora's Mask 3D

I was one of those kids who was so unlucky because their parents bought them pretty much every single Nintendo 64 game except The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask (& Super Smash Bros). So I really didn't get to experience either games until I was older & it was on a computer emulator.

I'll be honest, I struggled with Majora's Mask when I tried to play it on my computer. I couldn't figure out what to do & I quickly lost interest in it & moved onto something else. So when it was announced that Majora's Mask was being re-released for the 3DS I was a bit hesitant wether or not I would buy it. The thing that really got me across the line was the beautiful New 3DS XL that was being released alongside the game.

I haven't bought a new 3DS console since the original one came out. When this console was announced during a Nintendo Direct I was sold. And I'm so glad that I decided to give the game another try, because it was very much worth it.

The game itself is visually stunning. I found myself in 1st person mode just staring at the surrounding & then realised that the clock was still ticking & quickly continued on my journey.

N64 & 3DS comparison

Majorly improved graphics

The moon has also gotten intensely more creepier.

The addition of c stick functionality was utilised very well. It allowed me to have very accurate control over the camera & meant that I didn't always have to use the lock-on button to readjust the camera, which made fighting enemies & bosses a lot more smoother.

I really enjoy the little tweaks that have been made to this game. The addition of the bombers notebook to help me keep track of all the events going on & the ability to save the game more often are some of my favourites because they make the stress of the game a little bit more manageable. Now some people might think that this is a bad thing that takes away from what the original game had, which was that stress but I personally really liked it because it will appeal to a wider variety of people & the intensity of the 3 day cycle won't deter as many people away from the game like the original N64 game did to me. The game has been balanced out just enough to still be a challenge but not be so frustrating that I wanted to put the game down & never play it again.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed playing Majora's Mask 3D.The game looks amazing with the 3D turned on & the added additions have made the game feel fresh & not just a remastered port to the 3DS, which is kind of how I felt about Ocarina of Time 3D. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who has played a Zelda game in the past or anyone who is looking for a fun adventure game with a deep & compelling story.

5/5
