Cameron Smith is an individual who I hold in great and high esteem. He is the captain of the Melbourne Storm, Queensland Maroons and Australia. And today, he runs out to play his 350th career NRL match for the Storm moving him up into second place for most NRL games played where he will equal Terry Lamb on 350 games and be just shy of Brisbane Broncos legend and current games record holder Darren Lockyer on 355 games. Smith will surpass Lockyer in the near future to become number one and that in this day and age of professional sport is a monumental achievement in itself.

Throughout his NRL, State and International career Smith has achieved it all. He is the current State of Origin games record holder with 42 caps under his belt while also winning an impressive 11 series with the mighty Maroons. He's pulled on the Australian jersey an astonishing 50 times. He's scored the most goals in the NRL (960), is a 6x Storm player of the year and Dally M hooker of the year and a 3x premiership champion with the Storm.

Smith playing for the Melbourne Storm
Smith is someone who is very respected within the rugby league community (bar a handful of salty New South Wales supporters) and with good reason. He has always played in the true spirit of the game, with honour, respect and integrity. That is why he is the captain of his club, state and country.

His work ethic and dedication to the sport has inspired me for many years and in my eyes is most likely a deciding factor that has allowed Smith to continue playing for so long with little to no injuries throughout. His ability even to this day to work and control the rucking contest is quite frankly the best I've seen from any player to play the game. Smith truly is a work horse who doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon.
Congrats on 350 NRL games Smithy. You'll always be a hero and inspiration to me. Here's to the next 50 games #CAM400.
