Uncharted: The Lost Legacy began its life as downloadable content for Naughty Dog's 2016 title Uncharted 4: A Thief's End but quickly became much bigger than the development team intended it to be and thus it was released as a full stand alone title.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy puts us in the shoes of Chloe Frazer who first appeared in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and has her team up with Nadine Ross who we were first introduced to in Uncharted 4 and the main plot is these two characters trekking through India to find the legendary Tusk of Ganesh. The plot for the game while quite straightforward and simple does take a turn towards the end that raises the stakes as much as any of the previous Uncharted games.
The gameplay of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is very much a carbon copy of Uncharted 4 which is reasonable considering the game was originally just meant to be DLC and that's not a bad thing. I thoroughly enjoyed the running and gunning and especially any opportunity I had to use my grappling hook. Seriously got some Spider-Man vibes whenever I got to continuously keep swinging. I also really liked the attempt to create an open world area that allowed you to complete the story in any order you liked as well as the optional side mission. It wasn't too open in that it distracted you from the main story but did give you more freedom than in past Uncharted games.

Visually just like Uncharted 4 this game looks stunning and I mean hands down one of the best looking games I've ever played. The environment looks lush and so realistic it's unbelievable. And the character models blow me away. The amount of facial expression the developers are able to achieve is astounding. And I think a lot of that comes down to the motion capture that is used to create character models and capture the performance of the actors who portray these characters.

The thing that makes these games masterpieces in my eyes is not the graphics, not the gameplay but the story and the character development. No one does characters quite like Naughty Dog, they are hands down the masters. When they announced the game at PSX last year I wasn't that hyped for it. I knew I'd enjoy the game because it was an Uncharted title but I never really had an affinity with either Chloe or Nadine from playing the previous games. That all changed after playing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Naughty Dog were able to flesh out these two characters and give them some real backstory so well. And the dynamic between Chloe and Nadine is such a joy to watch develop over the course of the game.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy clocks in at around 10 hours of gameplay, I personally finished it in just over 7 and a half hours. This would have to be my biggest complaint, I wish the game could have been longer. If anything this game has shown me that without Nathan Drake the Uncharted series is well and truly still alive with Chloe and Nadine at the helm and I really hope that after Naughty Dog finish making The Last of Us: Part 2 that they decide to make a fully fleshed out trilogy featuring these two new heroes who are 100% more interesting and exciting than Tomb Raider's Lara Croft.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is available on Playstation 4.
