Zelda Symphony Of The Goddesses

I've been waiting many years for Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses to come to Australia so when the time finally came I was beyond excited to say the least. The show was held at Hamer Hall in Melbourne & I must say the show itself was amazing. Songs from across Zelda's 30 year history were played so beautifully & I often found myself getting chills, remembering the fond times associated with the music. Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild & of course the main overture were my personal favourite of the night. And I really enjoyed how they didn't just do all the songs from one game & then move to the next all of the songs were expertly woven together creating a seamless experience that left me wanting more.

I was just a tiny bit keen to see the show

My only gripe with the show itself was my want of more Ocarina of Time. I feel as though many of the classic songs were left out which was kind of disappointing. Tunes such as Goron Mountain, Zora's Domain, The Great Fairy Fountain & every ocarina song bar Zelda's Lullaby were left out. I really would have loved to have seen a medley of the ocarina songs. I also would have liked them to uses footage from the original Nintendo 64 versions of Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask instead of the 3DS remakes. It's not the way I fondly remember playing the games as a kid and kind of removed me from the nostalgia a bit.

There was another issue on the night that put a bit of a damper on my night & it concerned the sale of merchandise at the venue. Hi just wanted to provide some feedback about tonight's evening performance in Melbourne. At interval I went to buy some merchandise only to be told that everything except posters & bags had been sold out. Normally for every concert I attend I purchase a program & t-shirt to commemorate the event but unfortunately this wasn't the case for this show. I inquired as to why there was so little stock & was told that all of it was sold at the afternoon performance earlier in the day. In my opinion this was pretty appalling as whoever is responsible for the merchandise should have known that people would have wanted to buy programs and t-shirts at the evening performance. More stock should have been made available, it's as simple as that. I then thought well that's ok I can just buy the items I wanted on the online store but I was then hammered with a ridiculous shipping fee that made the items more than double the price I would have paid at the show. $40 all up for a program worth $15 what a joke. To be sold out of merchandise by the start of interval just isn't good enough & I'm sure I wasn't the only person disappointed by this really unfortunate organisation.

But apart from this issue the show was a wonderful and nostalgic trip down memory lane. The music of the Legend of Zelda has impacted me in so many different ways & to have the opportunity to listen to it be performed by a world class orchestra was something that I'll never forget. It makes me yearn for other franchises to have a orchestral concert such as Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses. Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Metroid, etc would all make fabulous shows!!
