Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is a short film based on the 2013 mega hit film Frozen. It comes hot on the heels 2015’s Frozen Fever. It takes place during the holiday season and when Anna and Elsa realize that they have no family traditions of their own Olaf sets out on a merry mission to bring home the very best traditions and save Christmas.
The music featured in the short is fantastic, particularly Ring In The Season and When We’re Together. These two songs stack up extremely well against all the songs we’ve come to know and love and this comes down to the lovingly crafted lyrics along with stunning performances by both Idina Menzel and Kristin Bell who’s voices continue to blend and complement each other so beautifully.
The animation is still as beautiful as ever with everything from the snow and ice to the clothing the characters wear along with simply their character models. Everything is looking crisp and as good as it would be if this was a fully fledged feature film.
I think that the thing I love most about Frozen is at its core the story is about family and the bond between two sisters which is something that I myself can relate to very deeply having a younger sister of my own. And this short is able to showcase this again in such a poignant way through the Christmas holiday being more about being with the ones you love and not the more materialistic things we normally associate with the holidays and this is such a great message to send to both kids and adults alike.
There may be some people out there who are over the Frozen craze but I am certainly not one of them. The positive messages that this franchise continues to produce, the consistently great music and the absolute joy it brings young people is enough to keep me coming back again and again. Bring on Frozen 2!!
