Avengers: Infinity War (SPOILER FREE)

Avengers: Infinity War directed by the Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joe is a film unlike we’ve ever seen before. 10 years in the making it brings together all of the heroes we’ve come to know and love over the last decade including the Guardians of the Galaxy and the ever popular Black Panther to fight for the fate of the universe from the imposing threat that is Thanos, The Mad Titan.

From the get go Infinity War raises the stakes to a level unseen in the MCU. I was clenched for the whole film never feeling as though any character was safe from Thanos and his Black Order. It was both fresh and exhilarating while also giving me a feeling of constant anxiety and worry that I haven’t experienced watching a film in a long time.

Thanos easily stands up as one of the best MCU villains alongside the likes of Loki & Killmonger. I feel like many villains before him have fallen flat because they never felt like a threat to our heroes and in the back of your mind you always knew from the start that the good guys were going to come out on top. Thanos completely bucks the trend always boasting an imposing presence. He dominates the screen with quite possible the strongest arc of the film. I can’t quite empathize with his desire and reasoning for wanting to wipe out half of the universe’s population I can comprehend his perspective and believe his suffering when he must make true sacrifices to achieve his ultimate end game.

Infinity War is a long film running for almost three hours but watching it doesn’t feel like a long journey because of how enthralling the whole thing is. The most important aspects of the legacy characters we’ve become so attached to over the past decade are clearly defined. The large ensemble all get their moments to shine with no one character being pushed into the background, regardless of the size of their role.

The action is amazing and will leave you speechless. Every character is given a stand out set piece which will leave you fist pumping for years.

It is truly amazing how effortlessly all the different parts of the MCU came together. It was a level of satisfaction that I didn’t know I needed seeing characters who’ve never met interact in hilarious fashion. And that is yet another mark that Infinity War hits perfectly. They weave emotionally charged moments and genuine humour with deft precision making for a beautiful roller coaster of feelings. And I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Avengers: Infinity War lived up to all my expectations and at times exceeded them. I laughed, I cried and felt every other emotion in between. Many questions were answered but so many more new ones remain. All I can say is bring on Avengers 4!!
